Shetland vs UK Average Windspeeds

If the customer decides that the finances for a wind turbine stack up (which we are confident that they will!) then the next step would be for Nordri to submit a Planning Application.

Planning Applications

This is a requirement for all small wind turbines in Shetland.  We will do all the work associated with the Planning Application completely FREE of charge – the only part which the customer has to pay is the Planning Fee which goes directly to the Shetland Islands Council.

Nordri have a very good rapport with the local Planning Department, having dealt with them extensively over the past few years.  We have built up a strong working relationship with them, and know what information is required.  This all means that to date we have never had a Planning Application rejected, a fact which we are rather proud of!

The local Planning Department aim to deal with all Applications within 8 weeks.  This gives us time to plan the finer details of the project, such as organising the civil engineering groundworks.  Our staff will liaise with the customer during the Planning process, ensuring they are kept up to speed with any developments.
